DZR was set up in 2000 by Darren Brierton, with the aim of providing affordable, well-designed, standards compliant, dynamic websites.
Darren originally trained as a philosopher and cognitive scientist, as an undergraduate at Kings College London and then as a postgraduate at The University of Edinburgh. He has lectured at The University of Leeds and The University of Edinburgh.
A background in philosophy and cognitive science may sound an unlikely one for a web developer, but actually quite the opposite is true. The key elements in any successful web development project are information architecture and user interface design, and what could be a better preparation for the former than a background in logic and metaphysics or for the latter than a background in epistemology and cognitive science? Further details about Darren's academic work can be found here.
Don't ask what DZR stands for, it doesn't stand for anything! (Well, actually, it's kind of an in-joke, whose secret we jealously guard.)
